From the National University of Natural Medicine

“Rosemary Gladstar will receive an honorary Doctor of Laws degree in recognition of her outstanding contributions to natural medicine as an herbalist, author and educator. Gladstar is credited with changing the practice of American herbalism through her 11 books, the California School of Herbal Studies and Sage Mountain Herbal Retreat Center, the retreat and native plant center she runs in Vermont.”

And a few words from ROSEMARY:

“I was both humbled and honored ~ and also completely surprised ~ to receive this Honorary Doctorate from the National University of Natural Medicine, the oldest running naturopathic school in the United States.  What was especially moving to me was meeting all those brilliant amazing people who had dedicated their lives to helping others and being part of their graduating class of 2017.  It actually brought tears to my eyes hearing them speak about their passion and desire to serve others and to make this world a better more healthier place for all living beings.

My dear friend and fellow herbalist, Cascade Anderson Geller, had also received an Honorary Doctorate from the National University of Natural Medicine just a year before she died in recognition of her life long achievements in herbalism. Cascade taught at this school for many years.  In typical Cascade style, instead of the cap and gown, she wore a wreath of flowers in her hair and wore a flowing green dress.    Robert and I were able to visit Cascades gravesite the day before the ceremonies.  It was so peaceful and still, watched over by a large Hawthorne that stands on the hill behind her gravesite.

The best part of the graduation for me was having my 93 year old mother join me and the rest of my rather large family as well. My mother, especially, was pretty proud of her college drop out daughter graduating with such ‘high honors’ some 50 years later!”

With love and gratitude,
Rosemary Gladstar
